Kaumarabhritya (Paediatrics)
What the department covers
Kaumarabhritya covers newborn care, breastfeeding and weaning, growth and development monitoring, immunisation schedules and the Ayurvedic management of common paediatric conditions. Suvarnaprashana clinics run periodically and are a widely used community touchpoint for the hospital.

Where it sits in the course
This subject is taught in the final professional year of the BAMS programme at Sri Paripoorna Sanathana Ayurveda Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, which runs 5 years 6 months (4½ years academic + 12 months compulsory rotatory internship) and is examined by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru. Practical work is supported by the department's own museum or laboratory and, for clinical subjects, by postings in the attached NABH-accredited teaching hospital.
