Kriya Shareera (Physiology)
What the department covers
Kriya Shareera covers how a healthy body works — dosha-dhatu-mala theory, agni and koshta, prakriti assessment — and pairs it with modern physiology practicals. The department maintains a large collection of models and charts of every body system and trains students in clinical examination of normal individuals, which is the base skill for later diagnosis.
Core topics

- Prakriti assessment

Where it sits in the course
This subject is taught in the first professional year of the BAMS programme at Sri Paripoorna Sanathana Ayurveda Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, which runs 5 years 6 months (4½ years academic + 12 months compulsory rotatory internship) and is examined by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru. Practical work is supported by the department's own museum or laboratory and, for clinical subjects, by postings in the attached NABH-accredited teaching hospital.
