Rachana Shareera (Anatomy)
What the department covers
Rachana Shareera builds the structural foundation of a BAMS graduate. Students learn gross anatomy by dissection, supported by an anatomy museum holding a large collection of osteology, gross anatomy and embryology specimens. The classical texts are read alongside modern anatomy so that a student can move between Sushruta's marma-sharira and a modern dissection table without confusion.

Where it sits in the course
This subject is taught in the first professional year of the BAMS programme at Sri Paripoorna Sanathana Ayurveda Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, which runs 5 years 6 months (4½ years academic + 12 months compulsory rotatory internship) and is examined by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru. Practical work is supported by the department's own museum or laboratory and, for clinical subjects, by postings in the attached NABH-accredited teaching hospital.
