What the department covers

Students learn garbhini paricharya (antenatal care), management of gynaecological disorders through Ayurvedic formulations and uttarabasti, plus modern obstetric assessment, ultrasonography interpretation and emergency referral. Clinical training runs in the attached NABH-accredited hospital with regular OPD postings.

Where it sits in the course

This subject is taught in the final professional year of the BAMS programme at Sri Paripoorna Sanathana Ayurveda Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, which runs 5 years 6 months (4½ years academic + 12 months compulsory rotatory internship) and is examined by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru. Practical work is supported by the department's own museum or laboratory and, for clinical subjects, by postings in the attached NABH-accredited teaching hospital.
